Allen Crosson Gua Sha Clinic
Gua Sha is a type of dermal abrasion therapy in which a tool is used to scrape in a rhythmic manner on areas of skin lubricated with liniment. Gua Sha is applied where there is pain and blockage or areas that need dermal stimulation.
Gua Sha tools are commonly either spoon-shaped ceramic implements or pieces of sculpted green jade designed with smooth, rounded edges. It gives a smooth washing sensation on the body that produces a red discolouration in the area being treated.
Gua Sha and immune response
Gua Sha therapy directs the immune response of the human body. Rhythmically scraping areas of blockage produces discolouration as the capillaries close to the surface are broken. This produces a type of pseudo bruising which the body will immediately flood with white blood cells to repair.
Gua sha is becoming more and more common in beauty therapy and facial rejuvenation. Is commonly used for frozen neck disorder, frozen shoulder disorder and Bell’s palsy disorder.
